Where
am I?
Buried under toy debris,
Awakened from high dreams by
The harsh reality of parenthood.
This
greatly overrated
State of being I finally understood
Paid for with my lost personality
At times I hardly
remember
Who I am.
Who am I?
Where do you stop and I begin?
Who is to blame?
Lost in between
labor pains
Piece by piece
I salvaged my body,
Inflated my soul
To feel the gaps
In what was
left
Still worth keeping.
Every ounce of stretched skin,
Every hope of becoming thin
Holds my head
high,
Helping me to cross out
Yet another day
Of the same.
Dishes, dinners, pizza night,
Bed time!
Lights are out at eight..
Nine, ten, eleven, twelve...
Just come home...
Don't get
lost
As I did.
Please grow up and go away.
I won't ask you to stay.
I will feed you right
till that day,
When I'll watch your dreams
Carry you faraway.
I will not call you back
As our
nest will vacate,
I will stay to relearn
Through my tears
Who I am.
